November 3rd, 2026 Energy Transfer Helps Renew Mercy Street’s Soccer Field for the Next GenerationA soccer field gives children a place to play. At Mercy Street, it also gives us a place to build relationships: a coach who knows a child’s name, a teammate who offers encouragement, and opportunities to grow in confidence and faith. That’s why we’re grateful to share that Energy Transfer and the Energy Transfer/Sunoco Foundation have given $642,916 to renovate the soccer field at the Mercy Street Sports Complex in West Dallas. Their generosity is helping renew a space where children and families can connect through the game they love. That partnership helped make our original soccer field possible. In 2017, Energy Transfer contributed $460,000 to help establish and operate the field. A $275,000 gift in 2024 also included funding for our Dream Center, the multimedia lab and educational space that opened in 2025. Now, their latest gift will help prepare the soccer field to serve a new generation of children in West Dallas. “For more than a decade, we have been proud to support their mission through investments that improve facilities, expand programming and provide safe spaces for young people,” said Tom Long, co-chief executive officer of Energy Transfer. “We are glad to support such a great organization and its inspirational leaders who help make West Dallas a safer, stronger community.” Room to play, room to grow During the fiscal year that ended August 31, 2026, Mercy Street’s Sports program served more than 5,000 children through soccer, baseball, basketball, flag football, softball, volleyball and other athletic opportunities. Every practice and game creates opportunities for caring coaches and positive role models to invest in those children. Through Sports, Mentoring, Leadership, After School and Summer Camp programs we help young people develop discipline, build meaningful relationships and discover their God-given potential. “This renovation will give children a safe, high-quality place to compete, build confidence, form meaningful relationships and experience the love of Christ,” said Carlton Oby, Mercy Street’s President and Chief Executive Officer. The soccer field renovation is one of the first major projects associated with Building the Future, Mercy Street’s three-year capital campaign. It’s a meaningful step toward creating more year-round opportunities for children and families to stay connected to a community that cares for them. A new chapter for a familiar field The renovation is scheduled for completion in November. Mercy Street and Energy Transfer will celebrate the renovated field with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, November 16, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. We’re grateful to Energy Transfer and the Energy Transfer/Sunoco Foundation for continuing to invest in West Dallas and in the children who call this community home. We look forward to the games, friendships and moments of growth ahead. Read the full press release (PDF) Tags: Energy Transfer
